University of Pennsylvania George Weiss Pavilion

DESCRIPTION

Hunter Roberts Construction Group is providing construction management services that included preconstruction, to the University of Pennsylvania for the George A. Weiss Pavilion at Franklin Field located at 235 South 33rd Street. The project involves infi lling the northern arcade on the ground level, the mezzanine fl oor above and an excavated area on the lower level, to accommodate an approximately 52,000 GSF mixed-use athletic training and fi tness center. The pavilion will feature an intercollegiate strength and conditioning center for the University’s 33 men’s and women’s athletic teams, a fitness center for student and staff recreational use, and retail tenant space. The scope of work includes relocation of existing bathrooms, new electrical distribution, selective demolition, structural modifi cations and expansion of existing mezzanine floor, on-grade slab construction and infill over ramps to lower levels, new HVAC systems and a new entry plaza on the lower level. A prominent design feature of this project is a glazed curtain wall infi ll at the existing arches. A Silver LEED Certification is being sought for this project.
